My interests

My scientific interests are focused on the role of T lymphocytes in immunity and, more specifically, on how defective or improper T cell responses may lead to the development of cancers or autoimmune diseases. In my Ph.D. work, I have been studying several aspects of T cells in the collagen-induced arthritis model for rheumatoid arthritis. In particular, I have been investigating the recognition by T cells of glycosylated peptides and how posttranslational modification of proteins may lead to autoimmune disease. I am now focussing my postdoctoral research on peripheral T cell tolerance. In particular, I wish to understand how cancers escape immune destruction by inactivating or deleting the tumor-specific T cells.
